Coffee Gear

  1. AeroPress Coffee Maker: this is the coffee press I take with me on all of my trips and that I've raved about in a couple posts already! It travels so well.
  2. JavaPresse Coffee Grinder: This is the first hand grinder I bought. It served me well for close to a year, but ultimately I wound up upgrading because it took quite a while to grind even a small amount of beans with this.
  3. Timemore Chestnut Slim Coffee Grinder: This is the hand grinder I currently use, and it is light years ahead of the other one. Obviously it costs a lot more money, but it's incredibly well built and grinds the beans in a matter of seconds.
  4. Brentwood Collapsible Travel Kettle: This is the kettle I bring with me on trips. I don't really have anything to compare it to but so far it has worked well for me. It boils water fairly quickly and collapses down to a reasonable size. I did have to replace the first one I ordered because the LED power indicator light went out, but the second one has been fine.
  5. Tightvac Storage Container: This is how I store coffee beans on the go. It holds plenty of beans for a four day trip and does a good job keeping them fresh. It fits nicely in the water bottle pocket on my food bag.
  6. Greater Goods Digital Pocket Scale: This actually replaced the bigger kitchen scale I had for awhile. It's very accurate and comes in a compact size, making it ideal for use on the go. It also has a snap-on cover that protects the scale and can be used for measuring out beans. I've recently started bringing it along with me on trips because I just love being able to be precise with water and coffee beans.
